A Strahman Live-Loaded Packing system for valve applications helps preserve preload in packed valves and maintains packing tightness to ensure proper valve sealing and compression. Live-loaded packing reduces the need for routine packing maintenance. Also, it offers an excellent benefit for critical valves, such as those governed by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules.
Live Loaded Packing
The spring washer disc is added to the gland follower of a packed valve to create a controlled, sustainable amount of tension in the packing set. Properly executed, live-loaded packing can significantly reduce the likelihood of valve leakage. Our skilled engineers will design a stack-up of spring washers to maintain proper gland tension for the valve, minimizing emissions and extending maintenance intervals, especially for valves subject to large temperature fluctuations or frequent use.
